A feed-in tariff (FiT) is the rate your electricity retailer credits you for solar power your system exports to the grid. The credit is usually paid per kilowatt-hour and is separate from the rate you pay when buying electricity from the grid, so using your solar at home can often be more valuable than exporting it. FiT rates, daily charges and electricity prices vary between retailers and plans, and higher FiTs may come with other conditions. Check the current offers with retailers and compare them using your household’s actual solar production and energy use.
