The federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme is expected to continue in 2026, with eligible solar systems receiving Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). For systems installed in 2026, the deeming period is four years, but the number and market value of STCs depend on the system size, location, installation date and certificate price. Most installers assign the STCs to a trader and show the resulting discount in your quote, rather than paying a fixed rebate directly. Check the Clean Energy Regulator’s guidance and ask your installer how the calculation has been applied to your system.
